Diabetes and depression

I think that low mood (I'm not going to use the word depression, that's a medical diagnosis) is a complex issue and that there are many root causes. Most beyond a person's control. It's serious and if you even suspect it get professional help. There's no shame

Do you think depression goes with depression. Please tell me.
Fluctuating blood sugars can influence mood. I already had a clinical depression and a personality disorder, and my blood sugars being all over the place did not help, to put it mildly. I'll never be a stable person, but it's better when my blood sugars are under control. I'm less of a fire-breathing dragon at the turn of a dime. More snark, but less ripping-heads-off.

When we're talking diabetes though, it's not just high or fluctuating blood sugars that can get one feeling down and/or depressed. The trauma of diagnosis, or just the state of being ill with symptoms can affect how you feel. So it can be part what your body's going through, part the factor of things coming at you all at once. So yes, it can be connected. Getting control of your blood sugars can stabilise your mood though, and at the same time, you might end up feeling a little empowered and in control, and less at a loss, when you get them just right.

That said... You might want to speak to a GP or other professional about how you're feeling. Antidepressants were invented for a reason, as was therapy, so... If you think you could do with some help, do reach out. No shame in it, whatsoever.
