I have type 2 Diabetes and I have been told recently that because I am taking gliclazide tablets I need to monitor my blood sugar level each time I drive and after 2 hours driving. I must also prove I have done this and keep my monitor in the car with me.

Can anybody tell me if this is correct and wether I need to inform the DVLA. I have already informed my insurance company.

Any help and advice would be appreciated.

HI,

I didnt have to tell DVLA when just on oral meds, but had to when I had to start taking insulin. You have to prove that you have not had a medically intervened hypo for a year. (Treating a hypo by yourself does not count)

Have also had to send my license back to have it changed, and it now has to be reviewed every 3 years
