Hello to all and welcome to diabetes.co.uk’s newly upgraded forum which will focus on the issue of type 1 diabetes and eating disorders.
This sub-forum is affiliated with the charity Diabetics with Eating Disorders, formally known as DWED, with their website to be found here. DWED’s About Us page tells you all about the history of DWED and how it runs from day to day. DWED are delighted to be linking up with the diabetes.co.uk forums in order to provide this new and hopefully safe space. We invite anyone with concerns about eating alongside Type 1 Diabetes to post here, including those with anorexia, bulimia, or diabulimia, a term referring to the specific behaviour of insulin omission. Anyone that feels confused about what category they might fall into, if at all, and loved ones of those that may be struggling are also very welcome to post.
The team from DWED are really excited to be part of this partnership and feel positive that the forum can be a great source of support for people struggling with diabetes and eating disorders. If you’ve any concerns or questions then please direct them towards the moderating team.
