Diabetes and Emotion
Hi Every Body & Good Morning

I have heard that emotion raises the level of blood glucose BG

Is this information correct ?

Stress raises BG due to the action of hormones that are released in response to stress (particularly adrenalin, noradrenalin and cortisol). I guess what everyone perceives as stressfull will show some differences

Hi,
I am musician and perform on stage. this raises my blood sugars, even if I very positive, exciting. I did not notice that my regular emotions(not while playing) would influence my BG.

Yes, all high emotion can affect blood glucose levels. Fesr, grief, depression, anxiety and happiness as well as mental illness can see direct responses in our levels.

Hi

What is the deference between Anxiety and sadness ? I think it's the same
No, anxiety and sadness are different. I think anxiety leads to sadness but sadness doesn't always lead to anxiety. Anxiety results generally from stress. Under tha effect of anxiety, you feel nervous, excited and tired and you excessively think about EVERY little stupid thing in life. Sadness can result from stress but not necessarily :) You don't feel nervous . I hope I can make it clear for you.

Sorry, probably should have clarified! When I’m anxious, everything is running about five times faster than normal, emotions, my movement, etc. and the more anxious I get, the more jumbled and confused my thoughts and speech become and I can’t string or form a proper sentence together, and I’ve noticed when I’m actually able to stop, sit and test do I note that my sugars have skyrocketed, managed to pick this up when I noticed a pattern. Once I do overcome my anxiety I’m usually okay afterwards

When I’m sad, like really upset over something that has/is happening, or what not, I drop dramatically. I suppose the only upside to that is I have to eat something to quite literally bring me back up (no pun intended).

Emotions I feel do come into play with bgl’s. I remember I was at work one day, and it was a pretty good day too (I remember we got a new coffee machine and we were getting training on how to use it so I was excited coz I spend a small fortune on coffee per week) and I received a phone call saying that my partner at the time had been in an accident and had to be airlifted to hospital. At the time of the call I was roughly 9-10 (I checked coz the trainer had asked me what I wanted and I said mocha lol) and by the time I got to the hospital, about a 20 minute drive, I was in the 2’s, which I think was from the shock of the news (had not taken insulin prior to either).

Hope this helps

For sure! Different people react differently, but usually stress will make you high.
It's hormone adrenaline
When you have type 2 diabetes, stress may make your blood sugar go up and become more difficult to control – and you may need to take higher doses of your diabetes medications or insulin.
