Does anyone else out there have type 2 and fibromyalgia, am newly diagnosed diabetic and could really do with some advice on how to manage both conditions as physical activity a problem with fibromyalgia. Many thanks

Thanks for raising this question as it is something I would like some advice on. I have just joined
the forum today and am waiting for my glucose tolerance test. (Fasting levels are 6.4).

Ive had Fibromyalgia and ME for 34 years, so a bit more experienced on that!

Hi Jan, thanks for replying. Really sorry to hear you've had fibromyalgia and ME for so long, I was diagnosed with the former late last year after going to drs for a long time and basically until one enlightened GP finally put it all together was made to feel like a whinger. How do you cope with physical activity, I work full time as an office manager and stress definitely makes me feel worse, the only activity apart from housework (which totally takes it out of me and causes me a lot of pain which I'm sure you can relate to) is swimming, Our local council run pool is not very adult friendly, up until 7.00 p.m. on 2 nights a week is all child centred, weekends is again children swimming lessons, then parties then they close.

Anyway mustn't bang on too much, what sort of dietary advice have you been given? Mine seems very harsh and I'm only about a stone overweight at most, was doing slimming world but diabetes nurse has said that is too many carbs. Take care and look forward to hearing from you.

Hi, I'm following slimming world (lost a stone & half so far, halfway!)...there is tons to choose from that is lower in the carb department. Ask your consultant about the 'original' (red) plan. If you asked them to help you plan low carb options I'm sure they'd be happy to help.
