diabetes and ketosis....

Hi all, :D

I have found it harder and harder to get to a good ketone number on my ketosis stick. I must admit that I am not as active a when I used to follow that atkins strickly. I am concerned that as my diabetes (type 2) is getting worse that this affects that ketone process.

I used to drop into ketosis and go right to the 40-80 number very easily which for me means 2 pounds (american) a week weight loss. Now, when I do atkins I hover around the slight to 5 on the pee stick which equals 1 pound of wt loss every 2 to 3 weeks. (bad for morale for me) :(

Does anyone have any advice or comments regarding this???

Thanks and good luck to everyone with your weight and diebetes,

pleo

p.s. How much is a stone?? I see ppl talking about loosing stones instead of weight which I know is an old english weight system but how much does a "stone" weight, american pounds, please?

A stone is 14 lb (same as American) or about 6 Kg.

What is your wt? How much do you need to lose? A steady wt loss of 1/2 lb per week is still good - unless you are seriously overweight. We tend to put on some wt during the winter, so you may find the rate of decrease increases in the spring.

Most T2 diabetics are very good at making insulin and preventing ketosis.

PS I can't induce it at all, despite my VERY LOW/NEAR ZERO carbs
