Hi, I suffer with what's known as PMDD which is a severe form of PMT or PMS. I get really depressed, irritable, tearful, oversensitive, moody etc.. It's really debilitating, so much so that I can hardly function.

Anyway, since getting diabetes last year, it has become much worse and lasts much longer; around 10 or 11 days per month. I've searched on the internet, but it isn't mentioned anywhere except to say you might get raised bg at that time.

I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced a worsening of their pmt since being diagnosed and does anyone know why this happens? PMS sufferers are meant to eat a low GI diet with carbs every 3 hours. This diet worked for me before getting diabetes but has no effect on it now I'm diabetic so my theory is it's to do with lack of control over insulin production.

Btw, I have found a cure for it; omega 3 but the capsules caused insulin resistance so beware. I'm now trying ground linseeds.

I'm too old for all that now, but I did have HUGE problems with carbs in those days. Would it be worth a few days on near 0 carbs? I can't promise, but It MIGHT help.

My PMS varies from month to month but I could quite cheerfully kill anybody to peed me off. Before being diagnosed I was irritable but not as bad as now. Those who know me run or duck out of sight. Especially when the steam comes out of my ears and my eyes shoot daggers at people. thought of wearing a sign warning people but then thought 'why bother'. :|

There may be a connection within the endocrine system where a lot of things are interrelated, for example some women find SSRI antidepressants help (in some cases a single Prozac dosed at the right time, as it has a long half life, in other cases an increased dose one week per month) similarly some women find different contraceptive pills may either help or make things worse by tweaking the estrogen/progesterone balance, and a wrong choice may actually cause depression)

Have you tried Evening Primrose Oil? My ex found considerable improvement. Er well, *I* found considerable improvement, she didn't appear to notice though.
