Not been quite right since Friday night .
Niggling achey toothache and running at higher BG levels .
Worsened till last night - then agony toothache !

Clear link with my BG levels now .
Up at crack of dawn with real face ache and a well tender jaw .
BG levels were up to 11.7 :(

Tips with toothache appreciated till can see my dentists .

I use good old fashioned Oil Of Cloves and painkillers as they don't clash with my other meds.

Thanks for your reply @satindoll
Unfortunately hate both taste and smell of Oil of Cloves :yuck::(

Taken co-codamol for the pain .
Toothache is an awful pain to bear :grumpy::inpain:

Cotton bud application Anna ...... and that's it .... NO more than that
What exactly does this do - with toothache ?
Pain is awful now real face ache and cheek/ear sore too now :grumpy::inpain:

Be happy to have tooth out at this pain scale :inpain::yuck::arghh:

Been getting problems myself lately and wondered about connection to BG, my dentist has commented on diabetics requiring more fillings than usual. I have used Sensodyne for sensitivity issues and when it got really bad, Orajel, they do an extra strength and IMHO, it's brilliant. I was about to phone my dentist one Sunday for emergency treatment and thought while I was in Tesco where they had a pharmacy I'd ask for their advice. I thought it was brilliant. Try not to get it on your lips, it's not the end of the world, but you could be dribbling if you had a drink, which might be counter productive anyway, you want the gel to stay on the affected area.

Stay clear of cold drinks as I find this aggravates the tooth, plenty of pain relief and an increase in your insulin (to compensate for the high bg levels) will help until the problem is sorted.

Hope you get it sorted soon Anna.

Dulls it Anna (and it is great .... normally for most people) but I have read elsewhere that Oil of cloves needs to be used carefully with diabetics. That's why I said cotton bud only and to the affected area. Temporary relief

Ignore cheek and ear for the moment (yep, I know it's hard) as that is (i'll bet) associated with the tooth / nerve pain as I went thru that for weeks early last year. Get to your dentist asap please.

My best Mike

Sorry anna29 for ducking out on you, I was going to mention Orajel as being another thing that works really well but I had to rush and rescue Bobby he was caught half in and half out the dog flap, as Mile says dab Oil Of Cloves with a cotton bud or bit of cotton wool to affected tooth/gum, I personally have never had any problem with it with my diabetes but if in doubt ask your chemist first.

Booked in at dentists now .
Friday 3pm first available appt .

Would rather have a baby than this !
Tooth and gum area ultra sore and sensitive .

Thanks for all your support guys n gals .
Means a lot as I really am feeling quite rough .
Face all flushed colour wise and am in genuine pain :inpain::(:arghh:

Face really sore - soooooo bloomin tender
Keeping a soft towel on it seems to help just for the
warming factor .

Will try some of the Ora gel (extra strength)
Is it okay for us diabetics ?
Need something as feel like been punched in the face .

I'm still here, alive and well, and I used a lot over a three day period, would never have survived otherwise. We have an emergency dentist round here who I've used once one Sunday morning. He was so nice I nearly switched dentists, mind you his X-Rays showed nothing and his tooth tapping showed the problem was under a different tooth to the one I thought. Also, after the tooth tapping, the pain actually went.

Ring up first thing in the morning when the surgery opens, they often get cancellations and you may get in sooner.
