A wide ranging discussion, very rambling as these things are but a lot of issues raised. (so many that there wasn't much depth)
One of the main participants has T1, 3 (I think)have T2.
Some of the subjects:
failure of people to receive all nine care processes.
Low levels of people with insulin pumps (4% of T1s in UK at moment)
if it were raised to 12% one study suggested there would be a saving to the NHS of 60 million pounds!
Symptoms of T1 not widely known
Sports facilities and diabetes
Lack of access to preventative foot care , saving of £34 million annually if late referrals to specialist teams were halved
Preventative measures (diet)
early testing.
Poor choice of food available in commons tea room (for everyone but particularly those with D)
Salt and fat reduction in processed foods.
Children as young as 7 with T2,
the promotion of sugary foods to children
Blood glucose strip rationing (at 96W) only actually mentions T1 so not clear if the minister is talking about T2 as well.
She does say that 'people with diabetes who use strips need to use them and often need to use many in a day. I am not happy if there is any form of rationing of those strips'
