Diabetes diagnosis

Hello,
for longer time I've been checking my blood glucose levels at home. Usually it was between 5.9 - 6.5 fasting. After about a month of not checking, today it was 7.7 fasting. I will recheck tomorrow again. Do you think I have diabetes?

We cannot answer that! If you are worried, ask your GP for the appropriate diabetes diagnosis checks. Please don't try and diagnose yourself! Also, fasting morning blood tests are unreliable because factors beyond our control can affect them at any time.

I'm not diagnosing myself, I don't want to have diabetes. I know that condition very well, I know how serious it is. I just wanted advice if I should go to GP to check it or not. That's it.

Hi there. It is good that you are aware of the dangers of high blood glucose per your parents condition. I would suggest that you first see your gp with a view to having a HbA1c test, if only to put your mind at rest.
Fasting readings alone are not a good indicater of T2D as the body sometimes loads the bloodstream with glucose in readiness for the day ahead. Try taking readings just before your first bite of a meal then again two hours after your first bite, there should be no more than a 2mmol difference, preferably less. Do this for every meal for a few days and it will give you a better picture of what's going on.

How is your diet? You may benefit on advice given here about reducing your risk of developing T2D.
Best of luck.

You were asking us to diagnose you, which we can't do. The advice so far is to see your GP. I also don't want you to have diabetes :) Have a good read round the forums and look for ways of reducing your risk - finding a suitable carb restricted diet will definitely help.
