diabetes in Milton Keynes

I have followed this link http://www.miltonkeynes.nhs.uk/ in the hope it would take me to the fab new MK site for diabetics. The link is the one given by diabetes.co.uk on the NHS page on this very website.

I'm reasonably competent at using the interweb, but I just can't find the diabetic website provided by the NHS in Milton Keynes, although I have tried very hard to find it, I have even googled it. Have you seen it? I know it was launched in a blaze of pubilcity not so very long ago...

Hi Spiral,

I don't understand your problem. I just followed that link and it takes you to the new Milton Keynes NHS site, nothing to do with diabetes.co.uk

To get to the diabetes information you just click on one of the 3 links they provide in the first section of the screen and it connects you to the Milton Keynes diabetes sections.

I know that the link has nothing to do with this site other than being listed on it.

All I found was the kind of stuff that is on any old NHS hospital/PCT website. The publicity around it's launch suggested that it was quite differnt from other NHS sites and that it included a number of very specific tools including a web search tool specifically for diabetics and various other stuff - look at the illustration on the diabetes.co.uk page that links to it. That is the website I was looking for.

So glad we got that sorted. :D

The link in Spiral's original post is the same one that leads to Phoenix's link.

As Dennis stated, just click on any of the the 3 links in the top box. You will go to the section that phoenix has given. Bear in mind that it is a Beta version and is not yet complete. So don't expect too much.

I'm not thick, really :oops: An explaination of my earlier puzzlement.... :roll:

I downloaded the shiny, new, and allegedly faster version of Internet Explorer yesterday morning. Either it isn't running properly or I don't have it adjusted properly. I have just followed the links I gave above and found my way to the PCT web pages and there, large as life, was the link I'd been looking for :shock: Then it vanished :? and the space just looked like something hadn't downloaded properly and the links were not respnsive.

So I'm putting my apparently daft question and puzzling responses to your very patient and helpful answers down to a software malfunction. I am about to uninstall the software and try again :roll: its claim to be faster should have been a clue, it has been taking forever to start up - I'd put it down to a game my son installed :oops:

Thank you for your patience, normal service will be resumed eventually.

Hi Spiral.

If you are having trouble with IE8 just uninstall it via Add/Remove Programs.

I had the same problem on a Vista machine and had to remove it. After checking that all critical updates were installed I then reinstalled it and it works fine. Should work fine on XP providing all Windows updates are totally up to date.

Hope that helps ?

Ken

I found it without any trouble using my stone age XP and guess what I found on the "Will it affect my diet? page!

Handy Hints

* Base your meals on starchy foods
* Eat lots of fruit and veg
* Eat more fish
* Cut down on saturated fat and sugar
* Try to eat less salt - no more than 6g a day
* Get active and try to be a healthy weight
* Drink plenty of water
* Don't skip breakfast
It may be a swish new site, but it's still got the same information as anywhere else. The coloured font is mine
i also watchedto the inerview with "Malcolm" and I immediately thought. He is obviously compliant and could do much better with more knowledge. I hope he finds his way here.

Or you could try Firefox or Opera instead. They both work really well and have tons of optional extras to play with. I love 'em. :D

I have Firefox and haven't explored everything it will do yet. I could really do with installing the spell checker. I'm a good speller, but with a duff left hawnd, there are loads of typos.

Hana go to tools menu.
Click on options.
Click on advanced and then click on the general tab.
In the second box entitled browsing, make sure that there is a tick in the 'check my spelling as i type box' then click ok .
That should automatically check your spelling as you type and underline in red if it is wrong.
You then right click on the word and it gives you a list of spelling options.
