sir
the patient is 85 years. having diabetese since 1987 on oral medicine. stopped taking sweets, carbohydrate like rice, potatoe, banana, etc. Insulin was (morning 12 units evening 9 units) started since 2007. developed kidney problem in 2010 (Creatinine 1.6). Since then started loosing weight. Diet intake also reduced. ultimately blood sugar level started reducing . Fasting blood sugar reduced to 60. doctors adviced to stop taking insulin. started loosing weight.
if insulin is stopped the fat of the body will be converted to energy. and the patient will loose weight and ultimately vanish. so will it not be better for him to start sweet and carbohydrate diet. This will increase blood sugar and then take insulin to convert blood suger to energy.. This will also save fat of the body from converting to energy. this way the weight loss will stop and then start increasing. will it not be a better strategy. is the doctor not making mistake in advising to stop the insulin. please advice
