It is interesting but sad! If they would give out better diabetic diet advice then,instead of spending probably millions on this research ,they could save 100's of diabetics from going through the process at really no cost at all.

Even for compliant patients, the targets set for control are too high to prevent complications. My doctor insists that I will not be able to avoid them, even if I continue on my low carb path. How he knows, I can't guess, because low carb patients aren't common in his experience. He did tell me that and the local diabetician doesn't recommend it. I know that because he told my type 1 husband, after congratulating him on the improvement in blood chemistry and weight and asking how he'd achieved it.

In the daily express today page 5 an article on a trial done in Israel over 2yrs, The results show that lo carb does work. The report is being met with caution by "experts". Hands up for seconds anyone ?

Oh, I just love that. Most research of this type is conducted by professional scientists, generally qualified at PhD level, sometimes higher. So who are the "experts" that don't agree with the findings? Could it be those same "experts" who have been telling us for the last 25 years to stuff ourselves with carbohydrates? Are they more "expert" than the research team - very unlikely!
