Diabetes or not diabetes

I've been using my husbands glucose meter and have had some high readings. Normally my blood sugar was 5.5 whatever I have eaten but today I've had readings of 8.2 this morning, immediately after eating 2 boiled eggs, at lunchtime it was 6.5 immediately after eating beans on toast and a yoghurt and tonight it was 9.4 two hours after dinner. I am also obese and most of my weight is around my middle. Are these readings normal or should I get my blood checked out by my doctor?

Hi there and welcome to the forum. If you want to know how high you are going you need to test before you eat and then 1 and 2 hours after eating. Testing immediately does not really tell you much. Take those numbers to your doctor and ask for a HBA1C test.

All of the readings you quote there are perfectly normal and don't suggest diabetes. A diagnosis of diabetes requires a random blood sugar of over 11.1. All of your readings are well under that. If youre concerned, go see your go for a hba1c test.
