Diabetes or stress?

First time poster here but I am getting more and more concerned regarding my health, my mother is type 2 diabetes and I do appear to be exhibiting symptoms that point to being diabetic. I have a doctor’s appointment tomorrow but I am wondering if the same symptoms could actually be caused by stress, triggered by stress or can one exacerbates the other?

Symptoms include being tired all of the time, being thirsty and needing the toilet all the time, nausea and genital thrush. The thirst, nausea etc isn't every day, but it has been gradually getting worse so I would say, 3 or 4 days a week, but I do constantly feel tired and irritable, especially at work, not sure if thrush could be psychosomatic though

I suppose I’m just wondering if anyone here has displayed the symptoms of diabetes but it has turned out that it was something else entirely, just hate thinking that I may be wasting the doctors time as I have had tests done in the past which have always been normal, but then whatever could be causing how I am feeling is now starting to have an effect on my day to day life and my sex life and whilst I have a very understanding wife I know that all this is very unfair on her.

Hi Fletche, and welcome to the forum!

We're not qualified on here, so no one will attempt to diagnose you. You are doing exactly the right thing by going to the doctor. You are certainly not wasting his/her time - that's what they are there for, so don't worry about that! Whatever the problem is, you need to get it sorted.

Have a look round here, read the information for the newly diagnosed in the Greetings forum. Even if it tunrs out you're not diabetic, it's useful info. Someone with more knowledge than me will probably be along soon to give you more info.

Let us know how you go on - this is a very supportive and helpful place!

As Viv said, we can't diagnose you, but those symptoms do remind me of my symptoms before I was diagnosed, so I think you should feel confident that it's worth getting checked out. Make sure your doc gives you a blood test.
If your blood sugar is high, there will be sugar in your urine, too, and that will encourage the thrush organisms. Lovely eh?

Fletche,

All those symptoms could point to diabetes and many other conditions too, as others have said we are not qualified to say either way and its best you wait until you see your doctor in the morning for a full examination and diagnosis. Good luck!

Thank you for the replies, I'm just worried I think as I don't think I have ever felt this bad and concerned about what may be said tomorrow (or over the next couple of weeks), whatever the case hopefully something will change to make me start feeling better :)

Fletche, I am not a doctor but will admit to having all your symptoms (have had thrush for years and no treatment gets rid of it but timodine cream takes the edge off). Hopefully once you see the doc they will be able to get you sorted, let us know how you get on :)
