Hello everyone,
Hope you are all well, I went to see my new Diabetic Nurse this morning, what a fantastic visit. They always seem to be a lot more understanding and break things down easier to understand and offer more practical advice than the consultants so really pleased.. Anyway I digress..
I began explaining to her that about 9 months ago I was referred to laser eye surgery and it gave me the proverbial kick that I need to sort diabetes out once and for good Well the good news is I'm well on the road now. My HB1C is down to 6.1 from 9.6 so am obviously pleased. I did start talking to her about although my health is obviously improving my mental state following the improvement hasn't... Its a bit complex but I have always had interim periods of depression/anxiety and after my eyes I went into full on breakdown mode in that I had convinced myself i was going blind, at some points I thought I wouldn't live out the month etc. It may sound daft but for me these were very real feelings and fears. Obviously quality of life wasn't great...
I have just digressed even further sorry! But anyway point of my post is when I spoke to her about this she said they are in the process of bringing on board a new Diabetic Psychologist and would I be interested in meeting with them.. I literally snapped her hand off. Has anyone met with on one here and would like to share any experiences of this?
I know mental health is a bit of taboo subject sometimes so If anyone would prefer to let me know via PM happy to do that to.
Thanks everyone, keep safe
Mike
