Diabetes Reversal breakthrough

Looks interesting. More than I initially thought when I saw 'Daily Mail' and 'mice.'

Hope for type 1s and some help for type 2s, but not sure how it helps insulin resistance. I don't need more insulin. I need improved insulin receptors :(

That's interesting geoff - do you know that through tests? I always assume my issue is not producing enough insulin as I'm not overweight, (I realise this isn't the only cause of resistance), but I don't know this as a fact.
 
Sounds interesting although It was stated that the mice used in the trial did not have a normally functioning immune system and as I tested positive for GAD Antibodies,I doubt this could be of any help to me personally BUT if a way of protecting the implanted cells from the bodies own immune system was found then I could see how this could be useful for a type 2 patient whose own insulin production is nearing the end of it's life.
It would then obviously depend again on how insulin resistant the patient was.

When I was diagnosed {another skinny] I was old that I was still producing insulin - and had probably been producing excess insulin for years o compensate for the fact hat my body could no process it properly. As I aged it was no longer able to do this
-or to do it consistently.

This was not based on any tests - I was diagnosed by blood test in he hosptal and later by HBA1C. I was too traumaised by the
manner of my diagnosis and too shocked o ask further questions- in fact it is only now , 5 years on i am reallly sarting to hink about the causes in depth. I have been too busy trying to control it.

I have always had a gut feeling that insulin would not help at all -or at leas while I am sill able to conrol he condition by other means.

I too, would be very interesed o hear if you know of any tess which might confirm your comments Geoff. Thanks.

My GP on diagnosis said I probably had metabolic syndrome, since other markers were also present : hypertension, poor cholesterol figures/ratios, microalbuminaria, and the words insulin resistance were used. And I've had a slow burning sub-clinical hypothyroidism which remains untreated since it's at 'normal' levels. Thyroid antibodies ? Book an appointment when they're killing you. I'm the GP and I know best ! (those are my words translated from my GP's indifference.)

However I quickly note
