Hello,

I am type 2 Diabetic and for several weeks have been suffering from a bad mouth. It feels like the skin has come off the inside at the back of my lips. They are very sensitive and I have had to use children’s toothpaste as adults toothpaste burns.
Can anyone advise?

Do you know what your blood sugars are? High levels can make you more prone to thrush. In any case it’s probably worth seeing your GP

May I ask which meds you are on? Other members may be able to help if you give a little more information. Welcome, btw, to the forum.

It’s not thrush as I know the symptoms of that, and I don’t have any gum disease.
My medication is, Amitriptyline, Irbesartan, Bendroflumethiazide, Gliclazide, Glucophage and Atorvastatin. The latter is the last tablet prescribed so I haven’t taken this for two days and there seems to be a slight improvement. Just wondered if anyone had come across this problem

As you've recently started or changed meds, it could be worthwhile checking for any interactions.

You can either pop into your pharmacy and ask the pharmacist to do this for you. They're the experts.

Alternatively, you could have a look at the following link and try to do it for yourself: https://www.drugs.com/drug_interactions.html

There are a loads of other interactions checkers available. I might be more likely to trust this one, or the webmed ones, if I were doing it for myself.

I hope you get it sorted soon.
