Just had my diabetic review with a nurse. I think she is the DN with the surgery by default, everything by the script, any comments from me which deviates from the script was met with raised eyebrows etc.
First question was "how are you", I think this should have been "how have you been". That was the psychological questions out of the way.

Went through my medication, Apixaban - is that for AF? No, it is for a blood clot, where was that? In my lungs - a massive saddle embolus, because it was an unprovoked massive clot, I am too high a risk for me not to take blood thinners. "Oh, right". Would it not hurt to not know about patients - or am I being unrealistic. .
Blood testing strips - you know you shouldn't be testing if you are taking drugs for diabetes - Sukkarto - Metformin SR. Oh boy. But I need to know where I am in terms of my blood sugars. Ok we will let that one go for now.
And you are taking Statins - the Nurse was looking at my prescribed medications at this point - Statins are not prescribed to me. Your Cholesterol is up, me- it is lower than last time, Nurse - no it's higher than guidelines. So, we will start you on one tablet a day, me - no I will not be taking Statins, I don't like the side effects, and they raise blood sugars. Cue the raised eyebrows.
Normally my BP is 105 - 115 over 70, can go slightly lower, this time white coat syndrome had its effect 175/85, "oh, that's slightly elevated. Slightly!! I have never been that high. I have now been asked to monitor for the next week and return to the surgery with the results. I tested my BP at home 115/75.
Foot check went ok.
Weight – 98kg – oh, same as last time – that’s ok. Me – it is much higher than I want it to be. I have had a difficult last four months with family and work problems, it’s been very stressful”. Nurse – “ok”. And that was the end of that discussion and end of the review. I suppose I can be thankful I had a review.
