Diabetes UK - Any good?

Heh, if my GP plays that game with me I'll bring the pain :D My arms and legs, my eyes, my health, I reckon my circa £1500 a month tax entitles me to a few test strips!
 
I joined pretty much as soon as I was diagnosed last October, but I doubt I'll bother renewing. Balance is vacuous to the point of being a sort of Take a Break (but remember to mention the big D) magazine, and when I've tried asking the helpline for advice I've had a flat "I don't know". Not "I don't know, but I can find out", just "I don't know". I'm still waiting for the leaflets on diet they promised to send me last January...

The International Insulin Dependent Diabetes Trust gives better information on a lot of aspects of life as a diabetic. You can see their website if you google IDDT.
