Diabetes with (vs) Other medications

I have been given the go ahead from the hospital to extend my check-up visits from the present six-monthly routine to a 12 monthly one. The consultant seems to think that I have my diabetes under control (still using 2X Metformin per day).
Despite the fact that I have brought this to his (and my GP's) attention no one seems bothered that I am taking medication for Asthma(Two oral sprays), for stomach ulcers (esomeprazole), for depression (Venlafaxine) and for the after effects of a stroke (aspirin 75 mg). Now all these put together have given rise to an allergic reaction for which I was further prescribed Chlorphenamine and Citirizine.
The result of this barrage of medication is that I have regular headaches, I dare not go to the pub for a drink with friends, I waken up every morning with what feels like a severe hangover which lasts well into the afternoon, frequent bouts of stomach upsets and consequent diarrhoea. lastly, and unsurprisingly, I suffer from frequent and ever deepening periods of depression.
I feel totally alone ( my wife seems to think I'm making a mountain out of a molehill) and to keep my sanity I do ten hours or so of voluntary work every week - involves some creative writing and some bookkeeping and a little organisational work.
Should I be concerned with this very poor feeling in the mornings and the depression or are they just a part of the diabetes package?
Sorry about the convoluted nature of this missive but I have tried to include all the relevant factors.

Hi Pat! No, you shouldn't have to accept all this as part of the diabetes package. You need to GI back to your doctor and make a noise. INSIST he sends you to a specialist if he can't help you. Sometimes you need to make a fuss. Your wife needs to show a little more understanding too. These things CAN become mountains if we don't tackle them.

Hi. It's unlikely that the Metformin is causing your problems; it has few side effects apart from stomach upset if you have the non-SR (Slow Release) version and you can always ask for the SR version. So, I think you need to discuss the other meds with the doc but I doubt whether your diabetes and medication (apart from the possible need for Metformin SR) is part of the physical symptoms, although I guess depression is not uncommon with diabetes in itself?
