Diabetic bladder dysfunction

In a male type 2 diabetic, does diabetic bladder dysfunction have to get worse, or are there medications or any other ideas on how to stop it progressing?
Thanks for your help.

Hi @Dalrymple , In a word, no. I don't know anything about medicines but if you reduce your carb intake to a minimum, you should find you pee a lot less as high blood sugars tend to make you want to flush out your system.
However having said that I note you are "of an age" where you may have an enlarged prostate. If you haven't already, get yourself to the docs for a checkup. I did and it changes my life!

Hi, Thanks for your reply. Prostate all checked. It was excellent for my age. My problem is not peeing too much. It's the long delay before any flow starts and poor flow rate.

I have a similar problem. My prostate is nicely walnur sized and ok, but I do suffer retention. There are medications that can be prescribed to assist. I use Tamsulosin but there are others.

Have you had a catheter inserted recently? This procedure can cause irritation and swelling of the urethra. It can also cause blood in the pee.

Gosh I did not realise there was such thing. Bladder dysfunction of various types but nothing to do with with diabetes, sometimes they conveniently blame diabetes for everything. hope you get yourself sorted
