Hi
i was wondering if anyone on here gets pins and needles down the hands arm, shoulder, hip, backside and leg?
if so please can you enlighten me as I get this intermittently and it’s quite unnerving, mine can last for a couple of minutes up to 8 or 10 minutes
does anyone else have this please?
I have LADA and I’m on insulin, been told my hba1c is good and diabetes is well controlled ‍♀️

I have (or had) neuropathy but it didn't show itself like that. Mine was feet only and was a burning pain - usually came on at night and lasted all night. I got some relief from standing but that didn't help sleep.

There might be other possible explanations instead of neuropathy.

Hi @Lissia I get/got a lot of those symptoms in my arms and hands, but they are all related to trapped nerves, in my neck, some tennis elbow, arthritis and RSI. Mine was induced by a bad combination of work screen height, varifocals and an unsuitable mouse and also carrying a not-even-heavy shoulder bag. (I have also had sciatic pain in the past, which goes from your butt to leg).

Maybe you have habits that could be at play, or something completely different, a slipped disc? It took an age, and trying lots of nasty drugs before getting diagnosed via neck x-ray, and a whole bunch of physio and chiropractor treatment to sort me, but I still need to be conscious of what can trigger episodes, which still occur mildly, but I am usually well aware of what has brought it on.

Mine is definitely not diabetes-related, my HbA1c was tested back then (2018) as part of a full panel of blood tests to try to diagnose what was actually going on, I was very much in non-diabetic territory (32.2 - 5.1%), which I only found out recently.

It's hard to distinguish if something you have never had before your diabetes diagnosis is related or not isn't it? :arghh: Get yourself to your GP and see what they say. Good luck.

I had an MRI on Monday so awaiting results of that and I’m having bloods done today, I have a RA clinic appointment in just over a weeks time, so I’m hoping someone can find out what’s going on.
Thankyou for your explanation and experience

Have you had any nerve conduction tests done ?

IF not then I would >strongly< suggest that you request some via your Diabetes Specialist Team.

Although input on potential work-related posture issues is helpful, because that can be a contributory factor for sone people, there are other things that need to be checked as well as your MRI.

Your MRI will rule in (or out) something NOT related to Diabetes at all, which will help a lot at this stage.

Stay positive and post back after you get your updates.
