So only one T2, but he is the greatest Olympian of all time. I bet not many people would dare calling Sir Steve "fat and lazy" to his face.

Just goes to show, that Diabetes isn't a disability.

Great to see that Diabetes doesn't have to hold any of us back. World class sportspeople deal with this, so I am sure we can.

Great inspiration Stephen, thank you for posting.

Hey Stephen!

I suspect there is only one Type 2 because it is usually diagnosed at an age when people wouldn't be competing in world class sport whereas Type 1 is usually detected in younger people (except us LADA'S obviously!) If you wanted a comparison you'd have to find out how many former Olympic athletes go on to develop Type 2.

Smidge

Steve Redgrave is T1, was diagnosed at age 35 and is on insulin. Well thats what one site said, another that he was T2. He's on a pump, and his diet was gross, loads of sugar, he now eats low GI.

He has type 2, but due to the amount of energy, and hence food, he neeeded to compete it was better managed with insulin.

When I read the title I laughed, thinking diabetic olympics, I just imagined a race where you could have someone running the wrong way others arguing with judges and the commentator saying there seems to be a few hypos there today.
