Diabetic rant

New at this! But not diabetes! I got diagnosed when I was nine years old and now I am 24 years old! Right now, I am feeling very overwhelmed and very anxious and nervous to go to sleep due to low blood sugars. I feel as if I go to sleep That there is a chance that I might not wake up and while that is true for every person living on this green earth, I feel very overwhelmed at the fact that I can’t maintain a decent blood sugar level in my sleep. That being said, I eat carbs only for my blood sugar to not rise, I have been having really really low blood sugars when I sleep… which makes me very nervous for sleep. Period. any words of wisdom or advice? I’ve just been coping by crying and asking people to call me in the morning time to make sure I am responsive just at a very frustrated and low point just want good blood sugar.

You are most likely taking too high of dose of long-acting insulin. It's better to err on the side of caution and lower the dose by a few units immediately and work with your endocrinologist's office tomorrow to figure out what the right dose is. The correct long-acting dose will keep your blood sugar consistent from when you go to bed to when you wake up.

I hear that! I just hate the anxiety around even thinking I can make it thru the night to talk with the Dr, yanno?
