Diabetic review

Hi all

I've been called for a diabetic review and just wondering what is involved in this ? I was diagnosed Sept 2020 and have had various checks but nothing which was a diabetic review. I had a baby 3 weeks and wondering if anything they are testing for might be effected by this. Blood sugars well controlled.

It's usually just a chat with the nurse, they will discuss your latest test results, medication and if you're lucky they might check your feet. It's a good opportunity to ask any question about your care

Diabetes review allows for assessment of glycaemic control and earlier detection of, and intervention for, diabetes-related complications. It also creates an opportunity to regularly review and assess individual treatment plans and provide support if required.

@OB87 at the diabetic reviews I have had I have been weighed, had my blood taken for Habc1 , feet checked and medication discussed. I used to have conversations about my diet where the nurse talked about the ‘eat well plate’ and I explained my low carb diet.

I've had 20 years of T2 diabetic reviews, always with nurses, and in my experience they can range from really useful to 'difficult to describe politely.' The latest gem was raised blood glucose aligned with very raised inflammation markers in my blood tests. Nurse resorted to drawing one of those little plates to tell you what to eat and reciting a list of drugs I could take as if it were a menu. I tuned out. Doctor is investigating inflammation because I saw him separately.
