Diabetic Supplies Due Duty?

I live in Canada and my daughter studies in Bristol. Her insulin pump company is Medtronic and they don’t send supplies out of Canada so I forward the supplies myself. The last time I sent her the supplies, we had to pay duty fees. Is there any way to avoid these?
If anyone has any advice I would be very grateful.

Hmm, try putting that the receiver is a T1 diabetic who is exempt from vat on medical supplies? That should get you out of VAT at least....(maybe?)
