Diamicron and junivia tablets combination

Hi I have a question about my medication that I take im currently on diamicron 60mr and Junivia 100mg tablets once daily and have been on them for a number of years. I was talking to a person that runs a FB page for reversing diabetes using keto diet and mentioned that I was on these two medications. He told me that he thinks I should not be on this combination and they can cause serious side effects. So of course I'm now questioning why I'm on this combination. I don't see my Endocrinologist until next year to ask him. So was wondering if anyone have any information about taking both these medications together for T2D. I can't take metaformin as I suffer from severe ulcerative colitis (UC) and had been on it but made affected my UC so had to stop taking it. Of you know about these medications combined I be very thankful. Thank you for reading my long post.

Hi, we can't actually comment on medications, have you googled it?

If you want to try for a keto diet (I did and recommend it), you will want to talk to your doctor/nurse first, you may need to reduce or stop medications that bring down your BS levels as this may cause hypos.

Thank you I mentioned to my Endocrinologist that I am going to retry do this woe again more Paleo (I had stoped as was being tested for celiac disease so had to eat bread for 8 weeks) and if possible to get of my medicine he was like nothing wrong with taking these medications it's like taking vitamins honestly I was not impressed with his response. I am doing keto but I may be doing it a bit different as fat affects my ulcerative colitis so I'm doing it slowly with the fat intake.

There has been a bit of bad press for Januvia (Sitagliptin).
However, if you can tolerate the drug, and don't get the side effects, then it is a useful T2 diabetic drug.
It gives the patient, who has a slow or weak insulin response a boost of insulin to lower the spike derived from a meal, especially if it contains too much carbs and sugars.
Diamiacron (Glicizide) is a commonly used drug for getting good control of blood sugar levels, and I have heard of patients who have had both drugs prescribed because of the patients high blood sugar levels.
If you are worried about this treatment, speak to your GP, especially if you are getting good control or going Keto. You maybe, could get your dosage reduced or if your Hba1c and fasting levels are in control come off them altogether.
But do speak to your GP, because, you might not know the reason for the prescription!
