Did I have a bad hypo or not?

I was wondering if I collapsed due to a hypo or not. I was having a day/night away as I was going to a concert. I don't usually drink but I did have 3 dry white wines and soda. I know all about eating etc for when my glucose levels drop. I was ok until I got back to the hotel to pick up the tickets. My husband went to the loo and when he came back he said I was out cold and he couldn't wake me. He then spread glucose on my gums. He said after about 10 mins I did come to for little bit but I then fell asleep. I missed the concert which has really upset me. I was only awakened when I started to be very sick, all night. I checked my blood at 12am Tuesday and it was 13.3. My last meal I had was at 1pm on Monday and couldn't eat until breakfast the next day which I really really struggled to with as I felt sick and very tired and unwell. My bloods kept rising on the Tuesday, even though I had taken my insulin. I was 13.3 but 5 hrs later I was 18.8. With out eating anything. I still feel a little unwell. Could this have been a diabetic coma or I just had a bad reaction to the alcohol? :?

I'm not an expert as I don't take sulfonylureas or insulin but I would assume you went far too high and went into DKA or suchlike as 3 white wine and soda would put me through the roof. Do you take insulin or sulfonylureas? If not and if you only take Metformin then you won't have gone hypo as they don't cause hypos.... Someone else may have a different opinion though :-)

Diagnosed with GD in 2010, Completely disappeared postpartum. Re-diagnosed December 2012 with type 1.5 diabetes, age 26, BMI 22 currently controlled by only Metformin, 500mg twice a day.

You will never know because you didn't test but alcohol , particularly with sulfs (and insulin ) can lead to hypos. Fortunately you seen to have come out of it without serious problems, a lesson learned I think it's important for those of us taking either to eat some carbohydrates when drinking alcohol.
This research shows that alcohol and sulfs can lead to hypos..

I am on insulin apidra and levemir. I just don't know why I didn't check. Probably because I was so excited. My husband regrets not taking my bloods as he just panicked. Definitely a lesson learnt. Thanks for the reply. It helps to chat with people who knows what I'm going through.
