hi I have type 1 dieabetas all my live and since 1997 have been putt on 4 injecsions a day
the insulin I an on is humerlog and lantas but my question is is there a diffrant insulin so I can just
have a injecsion in the morning to take me till 5 0 clock and then you do not have the injetsion at 12 0 clock
to tacke you till 5 0 clock .

Then talk with your Diabetes Specialists (GP / Consultant / Nurse) about your treatment and why they have put you onto four injections a day (the reason is usually, but not always because it offers better control and greater flexibility than the two-per day method).

If you're having blood glucose control issues then you may need more support from the DSN to help you find the solution. This should include education (e.g. DAFNE / Carb-counting), sessions with a dietician, CGM and Pump... although, it appears to be general consensus that the latter should only be given out when all the other established methods have failed.

Hi Nitteam.

I was diagnose with type 1 diabetes in 1997 too!! On the 1st of May.
I was put on lantus and humalog too until i got a pump. I use to have my lantus - 15 units at night(around 9pm)
And my humalog 4 to 6 time a day depending on how much meal i have and how much correction i needed.

I believed that humalog and lantus are the best insulin i've been on so far. My problem was that i was having too many low blood sugar.

Are you having trouble with your blood sugar?

If you have a fairly regular lifestyle and would like to avoid the 12 o'clock injection maybe one of the mixed insulins might suit you better. They come in different proportions of a short acting insulin mixed with a longer acting, insulin and there could be a combination that would suit.

Humalog and Lantus is a popular regime, but it doesn't suit everyone, myself included. Good luck.
