I sometimes do and it depends how hungry or busy I am.I find I am needing a couple of cream crackers and small glass of milk before bed as am hungry..donnellysdogs said:Will be intersting to hear what 14 units did!! I would have been hypo!!! I wasnt hypo I was hyper..it went up to 9 .Think that may be because I had reduced the long acting last night by a few units.Diabetic nurse says keep that as it is.
Do you have a snack between meals??
Thanks for your imput..my diabetic nurse said the early morning and the fact that doses and results are going down shows I am going in the right direction. Thanks for the encouragement. Its maddening though isnt it that they dont really advise you properly and you have to master it more yourself. But I am feeling a lot more in control of it than yesterday.donnellysdogs said:All pre packed bread has carbs per slice I think on it.. Some home brands ones such as Lidls may not though.
If its WW bread I havent got a clue on the carbs for this but would imagine it would be sonewhere betwwen 13-15g so this does work out to be 1unit of insulin. Eggs dont really count, unless you're weighing up fat n protein etc... Which is way OTT for someone to grasping carb counting.
It does initially make you think hey, thats not enough insulin.. But there is a hige difference between 1 slice of bread and cereal with milk.... For both carbs and insulin.
Your overnight levels were good. Your hypo after lunch would suggest that you could try the same lunch meal again and lower your dose a unit... Must confess I need to look back to see what your lunch and insulin was though to advise what I would do in your scenario.
Will sign off to have a look... Looks like you are doing pretty good. A hypo and rebound etc tbh is pretty common when trying new diet styles, so dont let that put you off...
You'll get there.. Rome wasnt built in a day!!
I have tried to do it on my own.. I have always followed quite healthy diet and counted calories..but since going on insulin I have blown up.. I am 3 sizes bigger and now weigh 3 stone more than when I was first diagnosed. Was put on weightwatchers diet by my diabetic nurse and gp., they pay for it for 16 weeks in my area..I think it was a cheaper option than sending me to a dietician. Thanks for your reply.I am looking at this site for some recipes and to extend my options to what I can eat healthily.sandysan said:hi
i PERSONALY WOULD DO MY OWN DIETING AND LOOK ON INTERNET TO SEE WHAT CARBS ECT ARE LOW AND HIGH , I HAVE BEEN TO WW BEFORE DIABETIES , AND I THINK ITS OK IN GENERAL IF YOU HAVENO PROBS AND YOU JUST WANT TO EAT A BIT OF EVERYTHING , BUT IT IS OF COURSE YOUR CHOICE , BUT TRY INTERNET FOR LOW RECIPES AND GOOD FOOD ,
GOOD LUCK
no I didnt eat hardly any?sandysan said:just out of coincidence , did you eat a lot of fats ?
after breakfast was 8.4 after the toast and egg(had 14 units)donnellysdogs said:So how have levels, food and insulin been today? How did your morning toast and insulin work out?
managed to loose a pound and a half in the first week..and yes have tried to keep my levels a bit more even.. as when it went from low to high I did feel so ill. Its hard isnt it as its so tempting to over treat a hypo...but at least now have been given advice and understand a bit more what to do..thanks for your help.donnellysdogs said:Good... Those levels are pretty even without too many swings...flyctuations frim lows to highs etc can really make you feel unwell.
You will feel better and less stressed and worried as your levels even out. Well done!!
