Diet Control

Hi All,
I have been a type 2 for 2 years, I have been on metformin 500mg 4 tabs a day, obviously the side effects in my case vary from wind to extreme tiredness.
I am really struggling with my weight which I know is the cause of this, my life style is always on the go I am a sales rep for a chocolate company Nestle everything I sell is bad LOL, but have gained a lot of friends.dont know why ha ha, I am married with 4 kids 3 of which are special needs and handicapped so sometimes out of stress I will reach for the dreded choc bar in an evening when so tired.

The last few days I was in hospital with chest pains, they thought my cholesterol was causing problems, well I had a heart scan, loads of blood tests and an angiogram, but prior to having it I had to come off my metformin for 48hrs over a week ago, well it sent my sugar levels up to 14, and 18, I managed to get them down, they allowed me to go back on them due to my sugars were out of control.

the last few days my sugars have been up to 22 and 25, and I have felt so tired and rough.

I do eat ****, like pizza, indian, and coke cola, but I do also drink a lot of water.

I just would love some ideas on what I should be really eating, as I work in a bakery ( I am wedding cake maker ) just being surrounded by bad foods is too hard to resist.

I would love to know what an ideal breakfast, dinner and tea is..

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I know I need to change my diet, and keep it up, I manage it for a week or two and then slip back into bad habits..
I am overweight by 4 stone, I am 6ft 5 and weight 18.5 stone my BMI says it should be 14.

Many thanks

Matt

Do try a diet change. Small changes at first, pizzas as you say seem your downfall. Also stress, is there someone who could help with the children? Apart from your partner, in laws perhaps?

Why not try looking at Vivs modified atkins diet? Which is in the sticky thread at the top of one of the low carb forums? Or have a look at some of the recipes?

I am sorry I cannot be more of a help.

If you must eat pizza try the thinnest base possible., cram it with vegetables, at least , that's what I do without adverse effects on my sugars.
Admittedly though, still not good really:sad:

2 or 3 rashers of bacon and a fried egg is my ideal breakfast. Zero carbs.

For tea a steak or home made burger (100 - 150g / 4-6 ozs) with 2 out of: broccoli, green beans, cauliflower

I hope by "coca cola" you don't mean you're drinking standard red can coke with blood sugars at 22 and 25.
