I saw something, somewhere today suggesting we all cut our avocados in the wrong way.
Mainly, folks cut from the fatter end, around to the thinner, more pointed end, then remove the stone with a knife.
The alternative is to take the top off, a bit like one does on a boiled egg. Twist off the top, then squeeze the bottom and the stone pops out. I bet an egg could go nicely in the stone cavity.
Avo is a once in a while thing for me.
I got myself an avocado knife in Lakeland which sent me back to cutting and halving as it removes the stone then slices. For the cover problem I got silicon avocado covers (also from Lakeland) and the other half keeps fine under that. I do love Lakeland gadgetry which is probably why hubby tries to keep me away from the place
Tried this today ... stone stuck in and hard to remove and looks rather rude!
Is Dobbies a chain of garden centres? If so then I think I've heard of them. We haven't got one near here
but we do have a lovely garden centre at a place called Brigg about 20 minutes drive which is crammed full of the most amazing things, most of which I want to own.
Ricola Elderflower sugar free sweeties to suck if you feel a coughing attack coming on, they have always worked for me.
Why did you tender your resignation? Surely it was for your employers to terminate your contract, and all that follows
Have you been there just before Christmas when they've got the top floor full of Christmas displays and decorations? Absolutely breathtaking.Love Brigg Garden Centre!
I particularly liked the real reindeers out the back that had an attitude problem and hid behind a wall of straw every time someone tried to take a picture.yes! and the Giant Polar Bear Band. and the dinosaur displays...
Tastelessness + extravagance = magnificent delightfulness
and the plant range is FAB
I think mine would have probably just p'd up it - except for Millie who would probably want to mother it.I felt like bribing the staff so I could smuggle the dogs in and video their reactions to real live dinosaurs!!!
Yes, I am a BAD dog parent. Hahahahahaha!
I do understand how you felt @Chook having been in that situation myself. You do feel a lot of pressure and I don't think I would have got through it without the employment lawyer. What really upset me though was that they could treat me like this after 37 years service and the fact I was in this situation due to an industrial accident. It was intense pressure but now you have made the decision you will feel that a massive weight that was dragging you down has gone. The only thing that surprises me is were your employers not liable for some sort of settlement in your case as it was an accident at work?Because I suffer with depression and this problem with my work has really made it worse or might have even caused it. This time around it started almost exactly a year ago coinciding with the incident at work which has caused a lot of physical pain. Some counselling has made it obvious that it was was one thing I could do something about - the rest of the stuff which contributes to it is either the pain (which I can't change) or stuff that happened in my past (which I also can't change).
I am feeling better today (no more thoughts of bags of doughnuts) and after the best night's sleep I've had in months I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders.
Back to the topic, has anyone noticed how low carb cakes go off fast? I made a LC lemon drizzle cake last Sunday, went to have a slice last evening (when I was in bag of doughnuts frame of mind) and it was covered in mould spots.
BTW watch out for the DD recipe for bread rolls... it has a lot of psyllium husk in it - works out to 1.25 tablespoons per roll. I ate one with the pulled chicken thighs on Wednesday but Mr C had two - and he's still suffering the aftermath.
Dobbies is like that too. They have a massive Christmas shop and they build a full scale Grotto with loads of animatronics which the kids love. You wander through this full scale Grotto until the 'elfs' escort you to Santa. Santa's arrival is something too as they have a parade with Santa arriving in his sleigh pulled by the reindeer. It's lovely especially when the boys are still in the wonder of Santa. No 2 told Santa off this year as my sons makes snowy footprints from their door to the presents under the tree so when Santa asked was there a special present he wanted him to bring down the chimney he got 'Santa , don't you remember we don't have a chimney! You have to get the magic key to get in. Oh and last year you left a message with your footprints. Can you clean up this year so my Mama doesn't have to do it?'I particularly liked the real reindeers out the back that had an attitude problem and hid behind a wall of straw every time someone tried to take a picture.
I loved the dinosaur display too although the first time I saw one of them move it really made me jump.

Anyway no matter what you can enjoy life now without the worries of being summoned.
I had a similar issue in that they tried to claim that the deterioration in my spine and legs was due to pre existing disc damage and the accident just accelerated it but they just opened a can of worms as the disc degeneration was caused by years of lugging heavy projection equipment about and the crusher was when the neurosurgeon said the nature of the spinal injuries could only have been caused by severe trauma I. E. The crash. It was still traumatic though and I agree you have to take into account what it does to your overall health. It was crazy though that it was allowed to get to 1 week before the court case before they settled out of court. Onwards and upwards though. They probably would be liable in some way although hospital doc said about a year before the incident that I had arthritis in neck, hip and knees. It was only after the incident that it got going in my lower spine and my knees are now very painful.
My husband and I discussed the wholesale thing and decided that because of the depression and anxiety it would be best to just walk away now rather than risk me getting worse. I am feeling a lot more positive today.
