Wow that was a rapid drop. I forgot I'd been later with breakfast so when I tested I was just at 90 mins. After getting to 9 pre breakfast , a breakfast of a gluten free sausage, 2 rasherscrispy bacon, 3 Vittoria tomatoes, 2 chestnut mushrooms and a fried egg , I 'd dropped to 7.2 at 90 mins. Told you @Chook the Libre is scaring it.
I trialed the libre when i was on the DAFNE course. Was abit unsure about it, plus the expense put me off. But after reading on here about the libre might just give it another go.I've started a new thread for my Libre experience. Now firmly in place awaiting activation tomorrow.
Well that was a different morning - but in a good way. Bed on 6.7 up to FBG of 6.9. Wow. Didn't last as I got to 8.3 pre breakfast but interestingly breakfast was 1 hour later than usual so now I'm wondering where it would have been if I'd been at my usual time. Guess I'll start finding out from tomorrow. But for me that was a low FBG. Only difference yesterday was my legs were bad last night but I'd hate to think bad legs were required to give me a decent FBG
Came as a surprise to me too. What was even more surprising was apart from the 8.3 DP all my readings have been in the 6's and post dinner my BG started to fall almost immediately. So from that point of view it's been a really good day.Woo HOO - you were lower than me!!! Mine was 7.7 this morning but it went down to 7.5 two hours after breakfast of boiled egg and buttered Lidl protein roll soldiers. I do feel a bit ropey (keep having hot turns) so I've taken some paracetamol and might go back to bed or have a nap for an hour or two.
Yes, my legs (knees and hip) are bad as well - but they always are on the day it starts raining after a few fine days and its tipping down here.So much for my cunning plan to attempt a gentle walk with a dog (I don't think I could manage all three plus a walking stick).
Looking forward to hearing about your Libre adventures
Back on the DD wagon today. Have the lasagne mince already cooked, and intend to serve it with lots of cheese, cream cheese and SlimNoodle noodles, since I simply cannot face the phaff of making DD lasagne sheets. This is the second time I have baulked at the task, so will probably give up now.
I have an elderly and untrustworthy gas oven, and a halogen oven, which I love and trust and use almost daily.
To make the lasagne sheets in the small halogen would take HOURS, and they would have to be fitted into 8 inch round baking trays, baked serially one at a time.
The gas oven burns anything at the back or top, and the heat everywhere else is very uneven.
I've had bother with my legs since I was a teenager many moons ago. Never liked cold damp weather.BG has come down about today. FBG was 6.3 today.
I always thought that it was an old wives take about rain making arthritis play up until it happened to me. I mainly get it just before the weather is turning damp - and it's more reliable than the weather forecast.
How's the Libre? Can you feel it? Does it disturb your sleep? I'm sure it's totally different but not so long ago I had to have a 24 hour blood pressure monitor (at home) and I don't think i got a wink of sleep that night.
We both seem to be fine with konjac (slim noodley type things) but I have problems with the various low carb breads. Weird how we vary, isn't it? I think it is usually the high nut content in the 'breads'.

Can't feel the sensor (or Nana's secret sugar thing) at all. I took painkillers last night and had a great nights sleep. In fact I only made the scan with 10 mins to spare. I'm really not aware it is there and must admit I'm happier knowing it is nice and secure with Opsite.
I studied the overnight graph and discovered there's not a lot happening apart from 3am when the BG takes a nose dive. It's dropping to high 3's /low 4's or there abouts. Difficult to be precise as the sensor is still measuring high. I went to bed on 6.7 again and again got up to FBG of 6.9 which I'm delighted with.
The morning DP ended up at 9 pre breakfast and although the sensor was reading way above these levels as @Brunneria says you can see what it is doing. I got the FBG check from both so I knew it was running about 2 units above so I'm happy it didn't go above 9. It doesn't, as I thought , just rise and rise. It dots about for a bit. In fact the Libre arrows are not fussed about it at all but there is a slow upwards trend. I was late with breakfast again so at 90 mins post FBG there was a large and rapid jump (just when I was loading shopping and putting No 2 grandchild back in car). After that there was a slow but not significant drop until I got breakfast ready and post breakfast it pretty much just descends. It's really interesting to watch.
I had an omelette this morning with bacon, parsley, mushroom and courgetti.
Despite the high readings I'm not obsessing with the figures. I'm doing some controls to see what the difference is then just watching what direction it goes in.
About the size of a £2 coin but thinner and lighter. Talking of coins got my first new £1 coin - they're a lot lighter. I couldn't find the hologram but Hubby did.I'm glad you aren't aware of it - how small is it?
I think from you're saying you're going to have to eat breakfast a bit earlier.
I find half a Lidl protein roll (buttered) with a boiled egg or two fillets of fresh mackerel fried in butter are enough to stop it but I have to have breakfast almost as soon as I open my eyes. If I have a smaller breakfast (one mackerel fillet or just the half Lidl protein roll toasted and buttered) its not enough to stop it but it does slow it down a lot.
The Hairy Bikers' leek lasagne was obviously leek and not pasta and made the lasagne very watery same with courgette and aubergine. Any one got any suggestions?
Yes, I like moussaka - I like anything with aubergines. My daughter says eating moussaka takes her right back to her childhood when we called it mouse-poo. I make it twelve portions at a time and freeze the extras. Mr C takes it to work for lunch when he's in the mood for comfort food and bored of Lidl protein rolls and about every couple of months he'll ask me to make another lot.
I even tried using cabbage leaves to make lasagne but, again, it turned out watery. I'm wondering about slicing courgette very thinly lengthways then frying the slices in butter to get the moisture out before using it in a lasagne.... or maybe celeriac?
How's Nana's secret sugar thing this morning - has it settled down yet?
Try Tom Kerridge moussaka. Just divine. The whole family enjoyed it. Makes 6 servings and 16 carbs per serving. He also has a white radish lasagne. I have yet to try it, but all the recipes I have made out of his book have been tasty x
Nana's secret sugar thingy is improving. Getting closer. Just going to put another post on Life with Libre.Yes, I like moussaka - I like anything with aubergines.
