hello everyone,
i need a little help wanted to try the low carb diet or counting carbs, but where do i start i really dont know how and where to start, please help..x.

First, read packet labels and get to know the total carb content of the meal you are planning to have. If there isn't a label, search the web for carb info on that product. Then set yourself a daily target for total carbs e.g. 150gm/day or whatever. See how that goes and move it up or down to get your blood sugar (and weight) into a better place.

Hi

I can thoroughly recommend the book
'Carbs And Cals' by Chris Cheyette and Yello Balolia. It has photographs of portion sizes, which I thought sounded a bit like a novelty but is actually eye-opening. It then also gives, calories, carbohydrate, protein, fat, saturated fat and fibre in grams per portion.

hi, for me myfitnesspal app was essential, sorry if this is too familiar to other readers, record on the app everything you eat, theres a neat feature where you can zap bar codes, you can then look at the amounts of carbs in your daily foods then work on swopping the high carb foods for lower ones, personally i used to pick the highest carb meals for example my weetabix, then id switch to porridge and eventually greek yogurt and berries for brekkie, it became like a challenge each day to get the number down , at 150g carbs a day it seemed ridiculous that people got through on 30g per day but in no time 20-30g a day was easy to achieve and maintain, i have a food bank of very low or no carb meals and if i had a higher carb lunch ill have one of my really low dinners, good luck, let us know how you get on, oh and ive found low carb baking invaluable for treats oh oh and sugar free jellies with double cream every night hehe
