Hi, I have recently been diagnosed T2, Metformin 500mg I have been on here and loads of other sites to try and get some sort of diet sheet, to no avail, I have to see the nurse on the 27th, a friend got me a cd from the dietician at the hospital where she works , but that was basically just telling me what I have read on here, maybe i'll have to wait till i see the nurse ... I did meet a couple in Asda the other day while I was looking for a snack, in the healthy eating section , he did tell me quite a bit, but i think i really need a printable diet sheet , till i learn about what to eat and what not , and when ,, thanks trand

to be honest Trand I don't think you are going to find what you are looking for :( - there isn't a one diet fits all approach to diabetes - have you read the advice that Sue & Ken post to newly diagnosed and new members looking for help? - it's very informative and will give you a start.

Keep doing what you are doing by reading as much as you can (this forum is fantastic for info and advice)and try to devise your own way of eating - it's what we all have to do I'm afraid - different foods affect each of us differently

You will make mistakes but don't worry about it - it's a massive learning curve but once you get your head around everything you will fly! - It will take you time to adjust so give your self time - I will try and find the newbies advice for you - and if you have any other questions just ask - there is usually someone who can help - :D

Read this thread Cugila's (Ken's) reply has the info I mentioned :)

As lovinglife says there is no such thing. :( We are all created unique and all react totally differently to foods. Some of us can tolerate more carbohydrate than others and until you test your BG levels before you eat and then 2 hours afterwards you won't have a clue as to what you can tolerate. By reading as much as you can on this site you will get an idea of the foods you should at least restrict if not cut out completely and then you just have to test.
Follow the link which lovinglife gave you. The 'Advice to newly diagnosed T2s' is invaluable IF you follow it carefully. Do ask whatever questions you need to ask and let us know how you get on. :)
