I have just been told I am pre- diabetic with high cholesterol and to try reduce my blood glucose and weight. No diet tips were given. Please does anyone have any links to diet sheets etc? This is all very confusing at the moment as to reduce cholesterol I need to cut out the foods that type 2 diabetics can eat!! Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Hi marem.
Welcome to the forum.

Not quite sure what you mean when you say, " I need to cut out the foods that T2 Diabetics can eat ?" :?

I too have/had high cholesterol and there are very few foods that I cannot eat, other than those which spike my Bg levels. My TC level is now 3.2 following my diet.

As far as diet goes, I could give you al ist of my diet, trouble is it may not work for you. You are the one who is going to have to sort out your own diet encompassing the things you like etc. Then you will have to find out if it is good for your Diabetes and if it works for you, lowering Bg levels.

Have a look around the food forum, the low carb and the non low carb areas too. You will probably end up even more confused ? Then ask questions to try and sort things out. We will answer you.

There are some foods that may help reduce cholesterol that are acceptable on most diets, including very low carbohydrate diets.
oily fish
avocados
nuts and seeds
sunflower, olive, corn, walnut and rapeseed oils
vegetable oils

In addition

Soluble fibre is also beneficial, this can come from a variety of sources:
fruit and vegetables , oats, and pulses (chickpeas, lentils etc)

You should be able to include some or all of the above in any diet.
