Type of diabetes
Type 2
Hi everyone, My name is Graham and i have been diagnozed with type 2 diabetes for the last 15 years. I have recently been on a fitness regime that has reduced my medication to just one metformin tablet. I have a meeting next month with the diabetic nurse and i hope by then i will be off all medication. To achieve this i have lost just over 2 stones in weight. My problem is now is stabilising my weight as i am continuing to lose weight. Can anyone help. i have been told that i need to increase my carbs but that will mean sugar level problems and the last thing i want is to undoe the progress i have made. Thanks

You don't necessarily have to eat more carbs. I just eat more of everything else.

If it were me, I would consider a heavy resistance training (weight lifting) plan in combination with an increase in your total calorie consumption until your weight loss stabilizes. That would help to minimize any unwanted weight gain (body fat).

Well done on your achievements. Excellent news. :)

Yes, just increase your calories from fats and possibly protein with extra veggies. It's what I had to do to stop losing weight. It took a while to find the right balance but I got there in the end and have been stable over 18 months now.
