so maybe I should go and try the gL way ,I have nothing to loose
Looks fairly good dietwise. Might be low in fat but if I say so Douglas will be eating my head off in no time, why he is so anti-fat he has failed to explain.I suppose I low carb somewhat , cardiac and liver problems along with very bad circulation problem in one of my legs , detiorating eyesight , today for instance I had 2 boiled eggs for breakfast ,lunch was mince and veg plus a boiled potatoe, evening meal was one egg,one bacon,4 mushrooms and a tomatoe
thank you ,I assume there is a booklet outlining foods and recommended portions with g.LThe glycemic load (GL) of food is a number that estimates how much the food will raise a person's blood glucose level after eating it. One unit of glycemic load approximates the effect of consuming one gram of glucose.[1] Glycemic load accounts for how much carbohydrate is in the food and how much each gram of carbohydrate in the food raises blood glucose levels. Glycemic load is based on the glycemic index (GI), and is defined as the grams of available carbohydrate in the food times the food's GI and divided by 100.
Glycemic load estimates the impact of carbohydrate consumption using the glycemic index while taking into account the amount of carbohydrate that is consumed. GL is a GI-weighted measure of carbohydrate content. For instance, watermelon has a high GI, but a typical serving of watermelon does not contain much carbohydrate, so the glycemic load of eating it is low. Whereas glycemic index is defined for each type of food, glycemic load can be calculated for any size serving of a food, an entire meal, or an entire day's meals.
For one serving of a food, a GL greater than 20 is considered high, a GL of 11-19 is considered medium, and a GL of 10 or less is considered low. Foods that have a low GL in a typical serving size almost always have a low GI. Foods with an intermediate or high GL in a typical serving size range from a very low to very high GI.

Nash, that is a variety of fatty liver disease, right?
My, you could have a better life. An old friend of mine was diagnosed with four stage colon cancer last September, several liver metastases. She has now however started to work again after successful treatment including a very low carb diet/high fat.
I think you may benefit from LCHF, particularly if you have heart problems. And if your liver problems are to do with fatty liver, common with high bg. The best advice I have seen is: Eat to your metre. So eat and check. If high readings, change your diet.
I can exercise , I have a liver disease plus nash, I am currently under a specialist for liver problems which are currently been investigated further due to complications , a tumor is suspected I reckon but im not told as yet ,I have cardiomyopathy . 50 yr old male . my bgs are elevated ,fbgs running between 7.5 and 11.0 I feel very bad in mornings until my medication kicks in ,also suffering mentally from all this .apologies if im slow to reply im not very good at typing .
thank youDear Shane
As you unfortunately suffer from multiple health issues, I would strongly recommend that before you embark on a change of diet, you seek professional guidance from your healthcare provider. Although people on this forum can advise on suitable diets for diabetes based on their own experience, they are extremely unlikely to be able to advise on the effects of any change in diet on your other health concerns.

Do you see OP as a rat? Get real, Douglas. I will very soon report you as you seem to do your very best to f**k up every conversation on this forum I am a part of.

It would be of a great help to the OP and the rest of the forum if you took your grievances with another member via private messaging. It is such a shame that this keeps happening on several threads and does not solve anything.Do you see OP as a rat? Get real, Douglas. And if I have tried until I have no patience left? Who do you think I am? If Douglas could once talk to me privately as I have asked him to repeatedly we might be able to come to a truce but no, he ignores the invite to discuss our different views on fat privately and keeps biting my head off every time I say fat is good. I am fed up with him and am about to get in contact with a moderator. I am sorry, it is not me who hi-jacks other threads generally. It would be of a great help to the OP and the rest of the forum if you took your grievances with another member via private messaging.
