gI was told to eat baked spud and baked beans for my lunch! (Go figure!)
I think I win on pointsThe best dietician I got was one instructed by my endocrinologist to have a look at a low carb diet, I think she meant low GI!
Anyway the best thing she did, under instructions again, was point me the way to this site.
And she was really interested in how it worked because she wasn't sure herself.
I've had some right doozies over the last fifteen years. (Not one of them knew about full fat and saturated fats.)

So was I, exactly that.
Last time I had a review (December) my nurse said I could come off the diabetes register. She was delighted with me.
We had a long discussion about diet, and she agreed that higher fat with low carbs was the right way to go and that I had shown this to be the case. As I was leaving, almost out of the door, she looked at me and said "but you are still eating plenty of bread I hope."
I believe that we are opposites because I had to get my endocrinologist involved to stay on the diabetic register, so free prescription, eye tests, reviews etc.
And more importantly my test strips on prescription!
I really enjoy my appointments with the dsn!
I would be inclined to report the dietician for giving out medical advice. She had no right what so ever to give an opinion/diagnoses on your symptoms.Just been to dietician I explained about discrepancy in diagnosis she then said lada is an American term and didn't know why I was told I was as my bloods was 6.1 and glucose int test 13.9 my diet was good but needed to eat 2 portions of carbs each meal more she also said diabetes gets worse anyway my dizziness and worsening eye sight was not cause of blood sugar I am on no medication and still waiting for a gad and c peptide test

I saw a dietician for first time last week, I told her straight away that I was now a t2 on basal bolus insulin, oh a bad diabetic was her reply. She had little digs and knocks at me the whole way through so feeling really small. She hadn't even asked about bs testing but suddenly said bet you're testing too much that will get you anxious, mum spluttered and said that I have to test before and during driving that is a legal requirement and I reiterated again that I am an basal bolus so have to test to check not hypo/hyper and how much insulin to give, yes she said as t2 you are testing too much doh!!

I am wondering who is right about the diabetic diet The recent stuff on the news casting serious doubt on carbs and a move away from low fat towards a near carb free diet with lot more natural fats and oils in the diet I heard on the radio several days ago that Type 2 had previously been known as Carb Intolerant the situation acording to some csources seeems to be encouraging A Diet which starts with a full breakfast bacon eggs etc no cerials or toast and carries on in a similar vane through the day has anyone else heard of this and does it have benifitsJust been to dietician I explained about discrepancy in diagnosis she then said lada is an American term and didn't know why I was told I was as my bloods was 6.1 and glucose int test 13.9 my diet was good but needed to eat 2 portions of carbs each meal more she also said diabetes gets worse anyway my dizziness and worsening eye sight was not cause of blood sugar I am on no medication and still waiting for a gad and c peptide test
