Please forgive a dummies question (or if it is in the wrong forum).
I am living at the moment 10,000 miles from the U.K. in a country with a very good health service but dietitians or diabetes clinics seem not to exist.
I have type2 and hypertension for a couple of years now and am managing it well with medication from my G.P.
I have managed to lose 18 kilos in about 6 months. (108 down to 90).
The doctor has no idea of what diet to recommend and searching the internet I just get more and more confused with information overload.
Is there an online dietitian with a service (paid for of course) to design a diet for a vegetarian with type 2 and high blood pressure?
Sorry if it's a silly question.
Brian.
Type 2. Hb A1c 5.5 B.P. about 120/60, pulse 60. (with medication).
Medication: Cardura 2mg., Metformin 500 mg (2x per day), Bestatin 40mg.,
Losotarn 100 mg., Aspent (aspirin) 300 mg., Miracid (antacid, I think) 20mg.
Plus, as a vegetarian, I take Boots concentrated fish oil daily.

Not sure there is such a thing, but as you are on the internet just google lowcarb veggie, a few of those sites about. Mind you, you can eat fish if you are taking a fish oil capsule.

Just by googling dietitian online services I found several. I decided I only wanted them from the UK so searched google UK rather than the web. The first one I looked at did consultations by telephone, e mail or Skype. Obviously you would have to take care to check credentials as far as possible.

Hi. Be aware that many dieticians in the UK haven't a clue when it comes to diabetes T2 diets if postings to this forum are any guide i.e. they tend to follow the high-carb 'you need it for your brain to work' viewpoint. Whether this is a global problem I don't know but you may be better creating your own diet based on web info including this website. The key is low-carb, don't worry too much about fats and obviously vegetarian-based. I may be shot down on this but I'm not aware that diet has a big impact on blood pressure, so that's a separate issue.
