Difference between venous blood and finger-prick blood

Sorry if this has already been discussed on here but I couldn't find anything about this here or on the web.

Are there any difference in the readings for example one being normally higher or lower than the other?

There is, but nowadays all glucose meters are calibrated, so a lab test should be pretty close to a fingerprick taken at the same time.
