Different readings before and after

Hi,
Just curious as to why the result taken before bedtime (around 11pm) is different than the one taken in the next morning (around 8.30am). Changes is expected but I was surprised that the one taken in the morning was higher, given that there is no activity during the night. 1.0 mmol/l was the difference. Does it mean that the insulin is not working as efficiently as it should?
 
thats fine, lots of things go on when we are asleep, some have dawn phenomenen where the bloods rise quite a lot higher in the night,rising 1mmol is fine, happy new year :D

A little known fact, your entire bloodstream only contains around 5g glucose at any one time: behind the scenes there's an awful lot of activity shuffling glucose in and out of store to maintain this, so with a broken system it's not surpising that seemingly odd things happen. Too much exercise in the afternoon may drop my BG to near hypo levels but in the morning it will put my BG up unless I'm specifically careful to control it manually. I don't get DP as such though, only this overreaction to exertion, and eating on top of a "liver dump" gave me a bigger spike than even the GTT. Some people are immune to such variations while others may swing far more wildly between extremes
