Sounds divine! We are having chilli with soured cream and loads of cheese!I decided to try and make a shepherds pie, using minced beef with onions, tomatoe puree and a couple of stock pots. The topping is mashed cauliflower with cream and seasoned. Serving with steamed asparagus, fresh cooked beetroot and maybe picked red cabbage.

Weetabix and cereals in general would spike most of us, as would probably two slices of bread.it was different but good, lets see how my BG reacts, was 8.9 fasting, breakfast 2 weetabix, skimmed milk, sprinkle of sweetner, cup of white tea with one sweetner and a spike in BG to over 14, lunch was 2 slices of seeded bread, with butter and 2 round pieces of pork luncheon meat and snackin on plain cashew nuts, BG before Dinner 8.1 lowest it had been in a while.
The nurse at diabetic clinic said weetabix or shredded wheat is a good option for breakfast (obviously not a good option) however i have always loved cerealWeetabix and cereals in general would spike most of us, as would probably two slices of bread.

She is also a diagnosed type 2 diabetic as of July this year. Is there any cereal suitable?Your DN is a victim of marketing hype
Not my place to tell you what to do but I personally wouldn't go near the bread or the wetabix. I have those kind of spikes with bread and cereal too. Rice and pasta are also bad, bad, bad! Initially it felt weird, especially as I love bread, rice and pasta. Hey if you're lucky enough to eat it without a spike then fair play to you! I'm all for people eating what works for them! The op is spiking after starchy carbs hence my suggestion of lchf! @fionamarie have you thought about keeping a food diary? I did when first diagnosed. I also recorded my readings before and after food. It helps you work out what you can and can't eat.At the risk of provoking outrageI have porridge most mornings: 25g (dried weight) of oats, salt, a teaspoon of stevia, because I can't stand unsweetened porridge, and made with water (no milk). In conjunction with a cup of coffee and goat's milk, it raises my BG by round about 1 point after 2 hours. May not suit everyone, other breakfasts are available, your vote will not count but may be charged for, terms and conditions apply etc.....
