Disappointed by your lack of responses

Well, I have to say that I thought I'd get more than one response from such a large diabetes community. I spent a lot of time putting together a question on matters that really are worrying me and only asked for advice from those who may have told me whether or not my symptoms were in any way to do with diabetes. Thanks to the one person who found a moment to reply.
 
Unfortunately Barry no one on the forum is medically qualified to say what your symptom's could be, it's best that you see your gp and discuss your concerns, if they dismiss what you say then ask for a second opinion from another gp.

I only answer questions that I have experience of which cuts out a lot of potential replies from me. Maybe there wasn't anyone about who knew the answers.
 
Hi Barry. I also can't find your original question. Did it actually get posted? If you can repeat it in this forum I will try to reply to it if I can as I'm sure others may do as well
 
I did find your original question which gave an account of your father's and your brother's illness and you asked if you have diabetes. The short answer is I don't know but I have not heard of anyone with your symptoms before.

Sorry I did not see what your symptoms were as my computer is playing up I think. Of what I did see was not quite clear.

Any way if it helps I lost my twin 15 years ago. There was no symptoms of the illness that would relate to myself in that sad occasion.

Noblehead is correct as nobody in this forum is medically qualified, nevertheless your worry and stress does not help you.

To noblehead - I obviously realise that no-one on the forum is medically qualified to say what my symptoms may be. I am aware that this forum is made up of people who are patients and sufferers (and not doctors) who know something about diabetes because they have diabetes. I wasn't looking for or asking for a medically qualified diagnosis. I was asking if anyone with diabetes who uses this forum has ever experienced symptoms similar to mine. I don't expect everyone to respond but even a "yes" or "no" would have been a starting point for me.

I have on many occasions been to see doctors. If you read my post you'll see I've stated that clearly, so I find your suggestion that I "go to see my doctor and discuss my concerns" a bit condescending. It's precisely because my doctors can't give me an answer that I'm looking for help on forums like this.

To judyann1 - if you click on my name at the top of my post you'll be led to my profile and you'll see my original post, bottom right, headed "crashing out - is this a part of diabetes?"

To Squire Fulwood - Thanks, I understand that. But, there have been almost 300 replies to about 20 posts since I posted my original question just yesterday. And, again, I wasn't looking for answers per say, just asking if others had had the same symptoms, which is why I titled the post "crashing out - is this a part of diabetes?".
 
Barry, apologies firstly as you are clearly upset. All I can say is that 99.9% of the time this forum is fantastic and you will receive good advice. I am only guessing but the reason for lack of replies MAY be that nobody has had any of your signs/symptoms. I appreciate that you would have liked a simple "no" then but that is also not very positive and this may be the reason for a poor response. As I said before, I'm only guessing. What I can say for certain though is that nobody would intentionally ignore you ! I hope you get some good medical advice soon.

I did not visit this site yesterday so did not see your post. I have looked at your original post and can confirm that I have not experienced your symptoms.

You are complaining about a lack of responses but I can see that you received a response with good advice 17 minutes after you posted your original post.
 
I will stick my neck out here since as I have said I am not medically qualified. This crashing out as you call it is not a symptom of diabetes of which I am aware so I think I can give you a no on that.

However I have known a lot of people who tend to do this in their old age. One friend was predictable in that he had his twenty minutes nap quite regularly. Others (including me) just go into a surprise nap without warning.

I would like to offer you a diagnosis but all I know is what I can eat safely as a diabetic.

Hi Barry!

As others have said it could be any number of things BUT I too used to suffer with the 'Crashing out' thing which used to come out of no-where and it turned out that when it happened my blood glucose was usually in double figures and since I've got my readings under control it no longer happens,as said before it could be anything but it would be useful if somehow you could test your blood sugar readings to see if this is the case with you or to rule it out.

Hi. I've been observing posts on this forum for the last year or so and have not seen anyone post with your symptoms. Lack of energy is a common diabetes symptom due to the inability to use insulin for energy but this tends to be continuous not 'suddenly crashing out'. Sadly I think most of us can't help directly as you appear to have complex set of symptoms needing an expert endo. Let's hope you can find that expert.
 
I had read your post but am clueless so I didn't leave a "dunno" post as number 1 that isn't helpful and number 2 I'd be leaving "dunno replies to most posts I read, good luck
 
Hello Barry,

I have just read your original post. I wonder if perhaps it could be similar to a sleep disorder (i think its called narcilepsy). It's where people suddenly drop off into semi consciousness for moments unexpectantly. I think we all from time to time slip into states of subconsciousness, seemingly unaware what is going on around us. The subconscious is very powerful.

Do you know if you sometimes sleep with your eyes open, which some people do (obviously you would not know this if noone has ever told you!!) But if you do, perhaps you are momentarily nodding off with eyes open and maybe it's a genetic thing? Different phases of sleep can be very vivid.

Maybe referal to a sleep clinic would help?

If you take medication for anything, check for side effects here too.

If you want help from a community, you have to be part of the community. Do stick around - all of your questions WILL be answered, whether directly or indirectly. There's plenty to read around here! :thumbup:

Hello and welcome Barry

Firstly,I think most posters would like a few responses. It can be awfully soul destroying to some to see other threads getting alot of replies and your thread hardly gets any. I have seen it so many times.

Noone is medically trained to answer the questions, but a bit of support and some welcoming advice can go a long way and not make that person feel alone or invisible.

Your post was very detailed, and I feel you were just letting it all out. I do hope that you can get some answers and a diagnosis to your current conditions.

If we ALL went on google to get some answers or advice etc, then we probably wouldn't need forums, would we? A bit of empathy is all that is needed sometimes.

But Google SHOULD be the first stop. For me, it's always been a case of reading whatever I can lay my hands on, and then having discussions here before making up my mind.

I always say - Read, and learn from your doctor, but stay skeptical and always check with your peers!
