Thought I was doing so well!! Sugars have stabled quite a bit and ive lost 16lbs in weight and my hba1c has come back at 9!!!!

Feel like crying my eyes out. All that effort for nothing

If your bgs have stabilised, that is a HUGE gain! (with an accompanying reduction in risk factors)
Congratulations.
For the rest, just view it as a work in progress. You have made one great leap, now just work at nibbling the bgs down, bit by bit.

16Ibs is a great achievement, admittedly some work to do with regards to your HbA1c but I'm sure that will come @Lynz84

At the risk of sounding trite, it`s a marathon not a sprint. bringing down your hba1c is not usually an overnight task so be patient, eat sensibly and it WILL happen.:).

Do you have Libre or CGM? If you felt like your levels were under control but received an hba1c of 9 then you're probably high over night or spiking without realising it and - even if you can't have it permanently - using a CGM for a week or so will probably give you a huge insight into what's actually happening with your levels.

What's Libre or CGM please ... I'm a newbie?

Thanks everyone. Its a weird feeling because i feel like diabetes is now kicking my ass and i dont understand how.
Thank flip its friday anyway!!

CGM = a continuous glucose monitor
and
the Libre = the Freestyle Libre monitor, which some of us self-fund because it is not available via the NHS.

Hope that helps.

@Lynz84, I really sympathise. I have been diagnosed for nearly 2years now and have struggled with high Hb1Ac. At my most recent check, it had come down to 7.9% the first time under 8%. I must admit that the libre has helped me to keep my blood sugars down.

Good luck, it sounds like you are going in the right direction. It really is a marathon isn' it?
