Dizziness

This weekend is manic, we are clearing the house top to bottom of all the things we don't need and doing a major clean. Yesterday I was fine, today I jumped out of bed like a mad person, threw on some clothes, ran to the shop, then came in, picked up a basket of laundry and went to hang it on the line. I had pegged out just a couple of things when I was hit by wave after wave of dizziness and sweating. My first thought (diabetic head) my first hypo. I came in, tested 5.2 so not a hypo.

I am guessing it was low blood pressure? My BP is always and always has been normal, so a new experience for me. I know it was my own fault but I had so much to do, it didn't cross my mind to slow things down a bit. I did get the laundry out, and some other jobs, then had lunch about 30 minutes ago, but still not feeling myself. Any suggestions/ideas?

Thanks - Jo.

Wouldnt think it was low BP - I have that and dont get sweaty just dizzy - maybe a bug or reaction to the combination of activity and fairly humid weather?

Hi jo

you don't mention that you ate anything

Could it be lack of food?

I was having dizziness everytime i stood up recently, as Ive mentioned in another thread the doc lowered my BP tablets and now i'm off them altogether

Now let me get this right .. .. straight up from bed, dressed immediately and out shopping next without eating or drinking, then more work without food + drink??
Did you know that your liver will try to dump glucose to maybe avert a severe hypo? Your meter reading could be the result of an early stage liver dump. A reading another 30 mins down the line would have been helpful, but my hunch is your meter was not detecting a hypo as it was passing due to your active liver.

Another guess in the other direction is low on fluids. Reduced fluid levels will often reflect in a temporary lower blood volume and when the volume is lower then so will your BP.

Combine the two and your were probably lucky not to fall over.

Could it be 'time of the month'? I never quite feel myself for a couple of days before. It could be you are coming down with a virus. Not sure about BP, mine is slightly high. Take it easy Jo and don't over do it xx

Thanks for the replies. I never eat breakfast, but then again I don't normally jump out of bed and run to the corner shop. I had planned to go to the shop, hang out the washing, then jump in the shower then carry on with my plans for the day. I actually went to the shop (I had put the coffee machine on as I ran out the door) when I came back the coffee wasn't ready so decided to hang out the laundry while waiting. It was while hanging out the laundry I became very dizzy and began to sweat. I came in tested had a coffee then finished hanging out the washing. It took a wee while for me to feel 'normal' again, but since then I have been fine. I had lunch as I usually would, no funny feelings since. I honestly do think that it was jumping out of bed and running to the shop without really catching my breath that did it, and I won't do it again.

Hobs; you say it may have been a hypo, but I liver dumped before I tested? I could actually accept that, as I did think hypo initially. I have never had one before, so am completely unaware of what they are like, but it does make sense.

Not TOTM Fraddy, but again it makes sense or would do if it was. The low BP is also something that I harp back to, the sweating could have been through rushing, then out in really warm sun, even early(ish) today.

Thankfully I feel fine now, got almost all my planned jobs done, and have learned a valuable lesson.
