My other half had a very bad dizzy spell yesterday and I wondered if you could shed some light on whether it was diabetes related. My understanding is that dizziness is associated with low blood sugar, not high!! Thanks, Mandy. x

I should go and see the GP as there are various conditions which could give rise to this, especially viruses. I am a T2 controlling very well by veggie diet and until a month or so ago I regularly had pretty bad low-blood sugars mid morning when I needed a bit of carbohydrate to boost sugar levels. Thankfully, now they have gone, perhaps along with the diabetes. However, one can also experience dizziness when encountering a virus and when I had M.E. some years ago an immunologist told me that we encounter about three a week. Also, I understood that feeling dizzy (I say drunk for free!!) is created by the dropping of sugar levels rather than an absolute sugar level, which may still be at an acceptable level. But the important thing is to get proper medical advice. A couple of months ago I had a nasty dizzy spell accompanied by stomach pains and was taken to A & E. They concluded a virus, but a later endoscopy revealed stomach ulcers. The body only has so many ways of expressing something wrong, so proper medical advice is advisable as this could relate to a range of health issues, or simply be due to normal tiredness or a need to eat.
