Good afternoon,I went to see doctor on Tuesday afternoon ,I have been having a few dizzy spells of late so I was sent to the clinic (it's in the surgery) for an ECG and then came home to wait for a call a few days later ,not so ,I had been home about half an hour when phone rings and displays Dr.calling ,he wanted to see me NOW when iI arrive tells me it suggest a funny heart beat and he wishes to do loads of blood tests but first he spends a little time listen to chest looks again at ECG and tells me he can't hear anything but will wait for blood results. But his time clinic is closed so back again on Wednesday morning blood goes of to path lab every afternoon results two or three days later it's now Thursday and doctor rings this morning about 9 a nothing showing on results so back to wait now till after Xmas but he gave me Hba1c result of 38 do I understand that is not a bad reading ??

Hi there,

Firstly Merry Christmas!

Secondly 38 strictly speaking is excellent! Just where we all want to be. So you've been doing all the right things to yourself there.

I must say I had dizzy spells as well, I put it down to not eating well or enough as when I was diagnosed I almost stopped eating!

I'd just check that you're eating a good mixture of the food groups, but obviously try to keep the carbs down.

But if after a week you're still dizzy then get back to your doctors....

But do post back to help others if the doctors turns something up

Thanks for input,my diet is good and varied I.e. Fish.both white and red meat ,vegetables eggs cheese just no bread pasta sweet things etc.Iput it down to age but doc.is thinking about ear trouble should no more next Wednesday when he rang this morning he booked me an appointment with him at 8-50 on wednesday

Definitely NOT what you want over Christmas - so I hope you have a good holiday weekend.

Hoping it is all a storm in a teacup, but it sounds like you are getting an excellent level of care.

- and congrats on that HbA1c!

I too was having dizzy spells and was given bisoprolol 2.5mg for blood pressure. Just suffer light headedness only now. I hope yours gets resolved quickly!

Dizzy: check..
irregular beats: check...
enlarged heart: check....
perindolpril.... check...
BP: not looking too bad 110:75.... though still get the dizzies getting out of baths/standing up too quickly...
Related to my DB.... not sure.
Good luck.

I was suffering from dizzy spells earlier in the year and for me it was a simple matter of adding a bit of salt back into my diet and it was sorted. Although I am now suffering from lightheadeness which has the Drs stumped.

I know that when I was diagnosed I cut all salt out of my diet for well over a year and since re introducing it my levels are still very low and I did some testing in regard to my lightheadeness and even if I eat a.higher amount of carbs it makes no difference so I have managed to rule out LC as the cause.

Is it just low carbers suffering dizzy spells/lightheadedness?

No!
I used to suffer as a symptom to fluctuating blood glucose levels. From going hyper then hypo!
Unfortunately having been high glucose levels, it does effect you as Lightheadedness.
Because I eat very little carbs, and getting into control, I no longer have the symptoms!

I was the opposite.
Suffered high bgs for 6 months until specialist started me on insulin and canagliflozin. Whilst high I had thrush and blurry vision.
On excellent bgs on lchf i'm suffering dizzy spells but with help of a high blood pressure tablet just have weakness and lightheadedness. Too much salt in treats which are packeted low carb maybe?

You know the saying... "you get nothing for nothing".
Low bgs but higher blood pressure ( for me ).
My body shape has changed but just a few pounds lighter.
I'm on more medication not less.

Many people's experience, including my own, was my BP improved significantly when my blood numbers moderated. I put this down to my body being less stressed, overall, when not having to keep battling elevated blood scores.

If you have been started on a BP drug, for whatever reason, and are having symptoms, I would say it could be worthwhile discussing it with your Doc. It could be the drug isn't suiting you, or that the dosage isn't quite right for you. I have heard of people suffering light-headedness where the BP medication has been a bit strong for them. To be absolutely clear though: I am not saying this is the case for you. I could have no idea about that.

Thank you @Andbreath
Dr believes he put me on bisoprolol to stop dizzy spells but as soon as I took that med I became dizzy. No dizzyness now just lightheadedness occasionally. I will be getting checked again mid-Jan so I might need an adjustment. :) :)

Dizzy spells could be something completely unrelated, my wife suffers from vertigo, which can strike at anytime. (it's not just fear of heights).
She says the symptons are like her brain is spinning inside her head.
There are tests you can have, unfortunately it's not curable. (where have i heard that before???)
