Hiya, i only ever seem to write on this thing when i'm having a dilema and never seem to return the favours by helping others; so i apologise.
anyway heres my newest situation.
I've been feeling rotten for a few days now with 'flu like' symptoms even though i was a good girl and had my jab about a month ago. i've been testing my bloods which considering the lemsip i am drinking (tablets where too difficult to swallow due to my swollen glands) have been fairly even maybe a little high but nothing i'm not used to (around 9). I've also been checking for ketones as this time last year i was admitted to the high dependancy unit for DKA, the levels have been up and down abit and at the moment they are moderatly high but havent wee'd for quite a few hours (Could this alter the concentration?) i also vomited earlier this afternoon and still have a few stomach pains.
any ideas what i should do?
i still live at home but my parents are on their way to visit my auntie in blackpool and i live in the north east so i dont want to worry them with such concerns.

any thoughts would be great,
Shell

ps. i hate hospital.

I personally think by what you are saying, is that you really need to get expert medical advise now...

Even though yes as you haven't been for a wee for several hours it may concetreate the ketone reading a little, if you had said you felt fine I probably would say stick to sick day rules, check BG and ketones every hour or so, correct BG with insulin every 2 hours or so if needed, drinking plenty of fluid

BUT

You've been sick and have stomach pains, it very likely the body is already struggling and this really does need sorting by the medical professionals now not later...

Phone at least the out of hours doctor now, or phone a friend/family get them to take you to A&E and you really need somebody with you now at home, just in case it turns into a major crisis...

Err we all hate hospitals, but at the moment make the phone calls or go to A&E, hopefully you will either avoid a stay in or perhaps just need to stay over night etc... Leave it and you may well be in hospital for a lot longer...

Panic over, my ketones have gone back down no negative which is good. Thanks for your opinion jopar :) . i phoned the NHS direct line and they told me if i have any more concerns just ring my emergency doc. I think my body must just go into a bit of a frenzy whenever i have an infection. but you are so right, hospitals are horrible but they are there to make you better in the long run.
once again thanks :D
